The purpose of the ten week SMU/UNM-Taos Lecture Series is to share information and ideas about the Taos area – its diverse history, culture, agriculture, arts, my thos, and terrain – with local resi- dents and visitors. Each Wednes- day evening in the fall, lectures are given by invited speakers who have in-depth knowledge and experience about one or more of these aspects of Taos. Many of the lectures are enhanced with visuals and will appeal to both young people and adults.
The goal is to have those in at- tendance gain a deeper apprecia- tion of Taos and, more broadly, to strengthen our community bonds and stimulate dialogue and reflection among faculty, students and the wider community.
Because of the positive public response to the “Harvest Festival” segment of last year‟s lecture series, the event is expanding into a real celebration. This year the lec- ture series hosts the “Harvest Reception” - just one evening in a week long Fall Harvest Festival, held at the Klauer campus, that centers around food, music, dance, performances and demonstrations.
