Welcome Back Day

Come celebrate the start of the semester at Welcome Back Day 2012!   We’re excited about the school year and we hope you are too.   There’s a noticeable crispness and scent of green chile in the air indicating that fall us upon us, but that doesn’t mean it’s too late in the season for ice cream!    We’ll be dishing up vanilla ice cream with all the fixings, plus we’ll have some great UNM giveaways.   But wait…there’s more!  We’ll have a voter registration table set up s you’ll be able to register to vote the same day, time and place.

Please see the attached fliers.

National Accreditation for Nursing Program

UNM-Taos Nursing Program Achieves National Accreditation Status

The UNM-Taos ADN-RN Nursing Program has been granted National Accreditation status by the National League of Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLNAC).  Accreditation is a voluntary, self-regulatory process by which the association recognizes educational institutions or programs that have been found to meet or exceed standards and criteria of educational quality. The NLNAC Accreditation process is a peer review effort with National Standards used as a benchmark.
Benefits of Accreditation include aiding in student recruitment and enabling student eligibility for funding support from federal and state agencies. A common core of standards and criteria for accreditation, materials that document compliance, policies, and procedures based on principles widely accepted in professional education are used. In order to achieve accreditation, a comprehensive review of the curriculum, faculty, and resources is detailed and documented in a self-study format with the Commission making a site visit.
The UNM-Taos Nursing Program has graduated 2 classes both with a 100% pass rate on the state board exam for licensure. Further information on the Nursing Program can be found on the UNM-Taos website at http://taos.unm.edu/academics/nursing/index.html.
