Student HELP Center OPEN HOUSE

Students, Faculty and Friends,

On Wednesday, April 18, we would like to welcome everyone to the Student HELP & Resource Center for an OPEN HOUSE. It is an opportunity to grab some amazing mini cupcakes and find out a little about the services that we have to offer.

The Student HELP & Resource Center has recently opened our doors to students, faculty, and staff. It is our aim to offer services and resources that enhance the UNM Taos experience. Our Developmental Studies Program specializes in English as a Second Language, mathematics, reading, writing, and study skills. We also offer professional development in the use of information technologies and instructional methodologies to faculty.

The HELP Center is a partnership with the UNM Taos Library. The Library Satellite offers reserve materials, reference materials, interlibrary loan access, and hands-on assistance with research databases. Library training for individuals and classes is also offered.

We are doing our best to become a hub to other departments that directly support student success like the Literacy Center, Early Childhood Resource Center, the Southwest Research Center, Student Success & Advising, the Library, and CASA Tutoring. We are just beginning, and part of our mission is to listen to and respond to the needs of our diverse student body. At this event, we look forward to your questions and comments. You can contact us for more information at (575) 737-6268 or visit http://taos.unm.edu/help.

UNM Taos Instructor Book Launch Reception

Dear Friends,

On Friday, April 13th, we invite you to celebrate together with UNM Taos Instructor Mirabai Starr at the launch of her new, long-awaited book: God of Love: A Guide to the Heart of Judaism, Christianity and Islam

Ram Dass says of God of Love:  “Mirabai Starr takes us out dancing with the One... She shows us how she brings that nectar into her own life.” Stephen and Ondrea Levine tell us, "Mirabai Starr writes of the divine from a luminous gene inherited by only a few. We hear The True Song in each word she attributes to the holy. It is more than just her song; it is the Melody of the Spheres translated by an astute musician."

Come drink the nectar and listen to the spheres for yourself!  The book launch celebration will be held at Mabel Dodge Luhan House, Friday 4/13 at 7 pm. It is free & open to the public.  Please come early; space is limited. This event is being co-sponsored by Sage Institute, The Remarkable Women of Taos, and Monkfish Publishing.

Hope to see you there!
